Wow! I think I might have found my favorite book of 2025!

Nancy Drew meets Agatha Christie in this 1950’s British mystery.

Paul Everly burnt Rosemont Abbey to the ground and then disappeared. That’s what everyone believes. Except Paul’s twin sister, Louisa. She knows he’s dead. So while everyone is looking for Paul to bring him to justice, she’s on a mission to find his murderer – even if it means crossing her caretaker aunt and uncle, and the Everly’s childhood friend-turned-police-inspector.

Soon Louisa is drawn into a web of blackmail, car chases, lies, and secrets. Was her brother really just a bad apple, or does the idyllic village of Willbeth Green have deep sinister roots?

Pros: I could not put this book down! The descriptions were gorgeous, the 1950’s details were so charming, the characters were memorable, and the wit was laugh-out-loud hilarious! There were so many twists and turns. Even the romance was sweet and well done. Best of all, I couldn’t solve the mystery. The ending took me perfectly by surprise! I’m already eager to read it again!

Cons: I have to wait until 2026 before the author releases another 1950’s mystery! Good thing she also dabbles in historical fiction!

Bottom Line: This gem of a historical mystery is sure to delight readers – especially those who love BBC and Masterpiece Theater.
