I thought I might say something or write some profound post, but it looks like most of the words have been said already . . .  so I wrote anyway, if only to pin down the turmoil of my thoughts.

Our enemy, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Evil battles good, horror stains innocence, lies choke out truth. It’s the tale as old as time, and the reality old as rhyme – long before 9/11/01 and 9/10/25.

While we live our days of infamy, it’s easy to be smothered by the darkness and distracted by the arrows that fly. But the battle is already over. True justice has been done. Through His own death and resurrection, Jesus conquered death and gave us hope and peace instead of fear and dread. satan may be having his last hurrah, but he’s already doomed.

What then? My favorite parable is the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). Yes, I know talents were a form of money in Bible times, but it translates well to our modern understanding of the word. How many talents has God given you? What skills and passions? What jobs or “hobbies”? What people has he placed in your life for you to care for and train?

Whether you have been given one talent or five, live your life to the fullest. “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:16) Do everything with excellence, stand firm, fight the good fight.

Whether the race ends on a public platform, on a commuter train, at school, in an airplane, or in bed half a century from now, live a life so full of the light of Christ that you leave behind a legacy that causes angels to applaud and demons to howl. Be the good and faithful servant.

No regrets.
